My Problem I tried to replace the battery for my macbook pro of model mid 2009. The 3 screws that fixed the battery were five-star shape. I could not get them off using the screwdrivers came with the battery. My Fix I bought two set of precision screwdrivers from walmart, containing 30-60 pieces. But none of them worked for my battery screws. I checked the online, searched in google with 'mid 2009 macbook battery replacement screws'. It came out this screwdriver.
I had to give it a try. I received it three days later. It was just right for the rare screws on my macbook. My Advice The screwdriver itself price was reasonable.
But the shipping fee was over $7. My Problem The IMAC PRO 2009 model Battery was no longer charging though it was still working from the power cord. I looked at all options including replacing the Mac My Fix After watching the video tips. I remembered what i had to do. It took me less than 10 minutes to change it.half of that was chat ting to my friend:) It was just too to easy to believe. My Advice Get onto the website and youtube that advise you on how to fix the problem.
You're battery may not be totally gone like mine.but try the options. If you know there are no options left other than discarding the mac Go to IFIXIT Site and order a new battery. They'll advise you on what you need and how to replace the battery. It costs $138 for a new battery and little bit of time By the way.for Aussie's and maybe other countries it cost more due to the exchange rate $250 But It was definitely worth it. Apple Tech's would cost more and so would a New mac. The only pieces of advise is:you will need 2 x screwdrivers.one for the casing which is a really tiny screwdriver.
And the one I purchased for the battery screws. The other advise is 'DO IT'.Replace it yourself! It was easiest thing I have done in years. Its working perfectly now! My Problem I needed to repair my trackpad, looking at some tutorial online to see if there is a way of fixing it, so I started unscrewing the bottom open up the laptop, then the trackpad is under the battery so needed to remove the battery 1st Then looking at the battery I noticed it wasnt a regular shape and for a while already I got the OS X status that the battery can still work but probably need a replacement. And also taking out the screw next to where the battery is located notice the aluminium cover was pushed by it.
Then battery remove and before changing anything regarding the screw of the trackpad just opened the computer that was upside down to click on it and the%#.@ trackpad was clicking as how I remembered it. So conclusion was that the battery that was swallowed was pushing on the trackpad, then looking at some of the comment under the tutorial that you guys had the same issue. So solution was to replace the battery, and in 2 things in one trackpad working and I have a new battery life.
My Fix Already did it a couple times for cleaning the computer, nothing much to say after the problem explanation, just took less than 10min to open up the computer and replace battery and then battery working now and trackpad also:) My Advice No advice in particular except that I know sometimes it can be long to read all comments under a tutorial but just take the time to do it, sometimes you'll see some people with same issue with a computer with 6yo+ than could same you time:). My Problem The old battery didn't have much life left in it, but that was actually the smaller problem. The battery had gotten to the point where it had swollen so much that it was pushing up on the bottom of the track pad made clicking impossible. I had to enable some of the multi-touch features just to be able to click and drag and drop! My Fix Very easy. Nothing was glued in this model, and the bottom screws are easy too remove. Too easy in fact, which is why I bought a screw set since 2/3s of my screws had fallen out and been lost.

Good to have my bottom cover on securely and fresh loctite on the threads. My Advice The walk-through calls out the spudger, but you really don't need it to bend the sticker over the left battery screw back.
Also, a great time to clean your fans if you haven't done so in a while.
MacBook Pro:: Replace Aluminum Bezel With Black Bezel? Jan 15, 2010 I have a 17' unibody MBP with the matte screen option. I've had it since last July and, although I'm extremely happy with it, I still wish it had the black bezel. Does anyone know of an easy way to swap the bezel or if any company has made an alternative like a black vinyl sticker cover?
I've searched high and low with no luck. I know you can purchase the bezel/glass front mount for the mbp, but I don't need the glass and I don't know if you can separate the two?
Similar Messages:. ADVERTISEMENT Feb 12, 2010 I want to know if there is some where i could purchase the part for the 15 inch unibody macbook pro's with the anti-glare option (aluminum bezel and matte lcd), to replace my glass/glossy lcd from my late 2008 unibody. I looked up the tech restore option but its looks crappy, id much rather pay for the parts and see if its swappable.
Apr 22, 2010 Seems lots of people like the black bezel way more. I think the silver bezel actually looks nicer since it matches the color of the computer itself. Mar 11, 2008 This is a minor complaint admittedly, but on a certain spot at the top of the bezel around my screen (just below and left of the camera) I have a black 'spot'. Every couple of days I wipe it away and it returns somehow! The only thing I can think is that maybe something is leaking from the trackpad (ie. From the inside of the machine but via the gap around the trackpad). The machine is otherwise perfect, so I don't imagine there's anything seriously wrong inside.
Oct 30, 2010 I know there are lots of sites that sell those plastic skins people use to decorate their laptops, but has anyone see a black one to go around the new macbook air screen? I think this thing would look really sharp with a black bezel, and I don't want to risk painting it or anything myself. I've done a quick google search and not found anything, but I'm also not really familiar with the popular sites and companies people go to for this kind of thing.

I know Techrestore has announced a service to replace your air's screen with a matte one and replace the bezel with a black one while they're at it.but right now I'm just looking for an inexpensive, reversible (in case I don't like it) option. Mar 23, 2009 For those of you that consistently read the Macbook Pro forum, you may have already heard of the Techrestore Matte Service.
For those of you that don't: Techrestore essentially removes the glass from your Macbook, puts in a HQ matte screen. Then they make a matte black bezel to go around it. The pictures look great.
And it's like on youtube and MacWorld and stuff. It was even ZDNET's best in show. URL (sideline3's techrestored macbook pro) Apr 17, 2010 I saw some videos that the HiDef AntiGlare has silver bezel instead of black bezel.
Does anyone know if the HiDef Glossy has black or silver bezel? It seems like HiDef Glossy is only available online for now, unless anyone was able to score one?? Please share. Jul 19, 2010 Which looks better to you? Aug 19, 2010 I ordered a 2.93 i7 / 8Gb Ram / SSD + 2TB from the Apple Singapore online store and received it yesterday. Shipping info showed that it originated from Shanghai China. As soon as I opened the box and took the imac out, this is what I found: on the lower left corner of the black glass (not on the screen but on the bezel that surrounds the screen), was a small silver bubble like crack inside the glass. At first I thought it was a stain and tried to rub it off but quickly realized that it was inside the glass.
On further inspection, I found that the entire black glass at the bottom corner was protruding slightly out while on the right side the glass was slightly protruding in. Obviously a manufacturing defect.
I was also very surprised to see the general condition of the unit that was supposed to be brand new and pristine - it looked like there were smudges on the glass in various places, dust on the outside and tiny black spots on the aluminum. Most disturbing was that the thin plastic that is stuck on and covers the pedestal for shipping was partially unstuck - like it had been peeled of earlier and then stuck back on.
It was really weird - this was supposed to be brand new but it seemed almost like it was a refurbished machine. I was wondering if it was caused by the factory since it is BTO - do they open up a new box and add in the SSD RAM etc then pack it back up - maybe not being careful when they do it and it causes the smudges and possible other damages? I could not deal with the damaged glass as you could plainly see it on the black bezel, so I called and Apple said they would replace it. The box was picked up the same day and I am now waiting to get the email acknowledging that a new unit is being sent. Kudos to Apple to send a replacement without fuss but the general condition of the supposedly new unit was really suspicious. Has anyone else seen these issues with new 27 imacs?
I am also wondering if folks are seeing these issues from just the Shanghai factory or from all factories? Hope my new unit arrives soon without any new problems. Just in case you are wondering, I did not even turn it on - as soon as I saw that defect on the glass, I had to return it. Oct 20, 2010 Only thing I wished was for a 8GB RAM BTO option. Maybe next spec bump Been waiting since MBA V1.0, and believe its the first time that have got all the stars in alignment. Well worth the wait, will get a maxed out 13', tempted to get the 11' as well. Just a beautiful piece of design & engineering.
Jul 3, 2009 Is this a MBP with silver bezel? Feb 1, 2009 My sister owns a white macbook (late 2007) and she has gotten cracks both on the bottom case and the display bezel, i know apple will cover and replace the bottom case but will they cover the replacement of the display bezel? The cracks on it are exactly the same as the ones people have been getting on the bottom case. Dec 1, 2009 A little over a week ago, I took my late-2006 MacBook to an Apple Store because my AppleCare expires in about a week from now, and my MacBook had gray dots on the LCD and the headphone jack was intermittently getting stuck in optical mode. The genius agreed that the headphone jack was looser than normal and my MacBook would need a new logic board, and wrote on the repair authorization to examine the LCD.
Previously, my MacBook has had a fan repair (July of 2007, this inspired me to get the AppleCare), presumably a logic board replacement (May of 2008, stopped booting and headphone jack was stuck in optical mode, no repair listing), and a repair to fix a noisy fan and a top case starting to crack (July of 2009). I got my MacBook back on Black Friday, and I was very surprised when I saw the repair summary: not only had the LCD and logic board been replaced, but the inverter and 'miscellaneous part(s)' with mechanical and/or cosmetic damage had been replaced, as well as the optical cable and Super Drive (these were not previously broken).
Unfortunately, after this massive repair, the two screws nearest the hinge had been overtightened, causing the polycarbonate to warp (I fixed one, but the other screw is too tight), and the display bezel appears to have been damaged when it was removed or replaced. The lower third on the left side is popping off, it comes out slightly near the top, the right side of the lower part of the bezel is bulging outward, and at several locations around the inside, light leaking out from the backlight is visible. My understanding is that repairs are warrantied for 90 days, but I'm thinking I should call Apple soon and ask them about this because even if the repairs are warrantied for 90 days, I may not be able to get free phone support after the AppleCare expires. The repair sheet said my MacBook passed all of Apple's hardware inspections, but it seems it was not entirely reassembled correctly. Should I just call Apple and send it back for another repair, or do I have other options? Mar 13, 2009 Just had my air replaced by customer relations following three faults in the first 5 weeks of owning - the new one's great - had it for 4 days but i've just noticed that the bezel is getting scratched where the trackpad button sits (at either side) surely this isn't normal? It's not a biggy at the moment - the left side is noticeable - the right is if the light shines on it in the right way.Is this just 'how they are'? My white macbook wrist rest broke for a similar reason, but after almost 2 years of daily service, 4 days and marking?I really feel that Apple must be thinking i'm a constant moaner!
I really am not it just seems to be bad luck. May 25, 2009 I took my Macbook into the Apple store yesterday, to be repaired for a few cracks i had on it.
Looking at the Repair descriptions, I have noticed there a few extra thing the genius must have noticed, and included to be repaired, these are: Item Number: 922-8285, Description: Housing, Bottom case, Amount Due: 0.00 Item Number: 922-8383, Description: Display Bezel, Amount Due: 0.00 Item Number: B661-5075, Description: Top Case W/Keyboard Assy Wht-GBR, Amount Due: 0.00 Item Number: S1491LL/A, Description: Hardware Repair-Level 2, Amount Due: 0.00 Does that mean that I will be getting the whole case, trackpad and keyboard included repaired, or will they just give me a whole new case. I was also told that there was a few hairline cracks around the screen bezel, I could not see them but according to the genius they where there so he included that to be repaired also. How long do repairs usually take, as i have my dissertation due on Friday, and would like my computer back by then. Jul 11, 2009 The black strip that covers the hinge on my mbp (the one beneath the MacBook Pro writing) is getting increasingly loose. It slides left and right and also makes clicking noises whenever the lid is opened / shut. Obviously this is a cosmetic annoyance, but as ever, this wasn't the cheapest of laptops so faults like this are quite annoying.
Anyone else had similar issues? Also is there way of taking it off and repositiong it without having to take too much of the machine apart? Apr 8, 2010 I have a macbook pro, and the screen/bezel is broken. Every time I open and close it I have to hold it etc. I am the only one who can use it with out making it completely horrible. Maybe drilling in some kind of brace or something. This stinks and stupid Apple is saying it's my fault (under warranty), and this just came about over time.
May 25, 2010 In the recent glossy vs. AG discussions, I've not seen anyone else point out one of the coolest features of the silver anti-glare bezel: the laser drilled microholes for the camera light! IMHO, this is too-cool. A now-you-see-it, now-you-don't light which literally appears to come from solid aluminum. Incidentally, it's my opinion that the manufacture of this bezel - including the laser-drilling of these holes - explains a portion of the added $50 cost for the AG.
It's a very-cool piece of manufacturing. This is similar to the power/sleep light on the main unibody, but if you look closely at the power light, you can see the holes when unlit. The camera light is absolutely invisible when off. Sep 3, 2009 So I was in the Apple Store again yesterday and whilst looking around the different versions of the notebooks it suddenly struck me that, with all things considered, the 13' Macbook Pro isn't really a 'Pro'. It doesn't look or feel very Pro-like especially when you consider the lower spec, tiny screen size, and larger bezel. It really strikes home when you see all the 13', 15', and 17' laid out side-by-side on display. I really think by upgrading the 13' name to 'Macbook Pro' Apple are doing a grave injustice to all the customers who could afford and purchased the real Pros'.
Aug 10, 2010 I have a 17' MBP, latest model, with the 'upgraded' hd matt display. However, I am curious as to whether I could get the glossy screen back by simply replacing the bezel with a black bezel and glossy screen cover as can be found on eBay - eg URLIs the hd upgrade simply the same screen but without the glossy covering and black bezel - or is it in fact a different screen altogether? Aug 13, 2010 So, I had read a few posts from various sites about how a problematic iSight (one that didn't show up in system profiler) could be possibly caused by a loose cable. The guides reported finding a loose connection in the iSight cable behind the bezel. They reported opening up their MBs and successfully getting behind there for the fix. I thought I'd be okay opening up my 15' MBP to see if my iSight dilemma could be cured in the same way. I used this guide: to get to the cable.
I did skip a number of steps immediately following the detachment of the bezel; going directly to the upper iSight area simply disconnecting and then reconnecting the cable. This seems OK because the guide is for replacing the entire cable itself; whereas I just wanted to check the top connection. Oct 12, 2008 I have a problem concerning this part of macbook. Two bottom holding tabs - around the hinges area - of the display bezel (that part of plastic where the word 'MacBook' is written ) can be so easily freed by single touching this plastic towards the keyboard. Call of duty: black ops gets september 27 debut for mac 2016.
Jan 11, 2009 Does anybody know if Apple is going to bring the new silver bezel with matte screen to the regular Macbooks like they did with the new 17' MBP? I would buy in a second if they would! Jul 14, 2009 Can the owners of anti-glare models check their bezels to see if they are warping?ine is bulging out at the bottom of the screen, right by that area that gets burning hot when you are plugged in or are on the 9600m gt-right where is says 'Macbook Pro'.I noticed that the hinge started to develop a creaking sound when I opened and closed the lid. So I investigated to see if there were any cracks in the hinge. What I found was that if you look at the space between the bezel and the screen, there is a slight (very slight) bulge right by the wording 'Macbook pro'. If you press down on it, it moves-unlike the rest of the bezel.
Jun 19, 2009 I am having difficulty removing the front bezel on my new 8X LG BD Burner. There seem to be 3 brackets holding onto it. Any ideas on how to get it off? Dec 12, 2009 Mine is bulging out at the bottom of the screen, right by that area that gets burning hot when you are plugged in or are on the 9600m gt-right where is says 'Macbook Pro'.

I am pretty sure it is caused by the heat in that area. That is a really poor design.
Jan 6, 2011 currently i'm on 2.2.2, and the app store has 2.5. I have no problems paying 5 bucks for this app, but what's the differences in the versions? I actually see nothing aside from a few new bezel icons, and the loss of growl notifications. Apr 5, 2009 My iMac slipped out of my hands and kissed the ground while I was moving it from my car into my new house. The hardware is still intact but there are a lot of scratches and a big crack in the corner which I don't find aesthetically attractive. I made some research and found a couple of auctions on front bezels for the iMac G5 17', with or without iSight. I myself have an Intel iMac (Imac 5,1) so my concern is if the front bezel for 'iMac G5 17' with iSight' will fit my Intel iMac?
Mar 2, 2010 I'm at a loss on this one. I've swapped my iMac's optical drive twice since it originally failed three months out of warranty. My first replacement was a UJ-875. My latest replacement was a UJ-225 Blu-ray reader. Here's the thing: When attempting to insert discs, both drives failed to 'grab' it and pull it into the iMac. The bezel of the iMac is so thick that I would lose the disc inside without the optical drive actually taking hold and loading the disc. With the tip of a pen I was able to push the disc in another few millimeters and it would grab and load up without issue.
Both drives functioned flawlessly once I got the disc in there. So.What is Apple doing to customize their drives so that they 'grab' earlier rather than later?
Is this a mechanical adjustment that can be made on the optical drive? I'm rather surprised that I've been unable to find anything like this on the web. Dec 8, 2010 The backlight on my MacBook went out suddenly today, no idea why. Is there some way to replace it without having to replace the entire display assembly? It is very difficult to get the assembly apart, but I will be on break from school and will have plenty of free time to fix it if it will save me a few hundred bucks. So is it possible to replace the backlight only, or is it a part of the lcd panel?
